COMPUTER DR. BACK COLUMNS
Dear Bryan,
I read your column in the weekend edition of the Daily News and really appreciate your hard work in helping your readers. I have learned much valuable information about computers and technology from your columns.
I travel in my job and sometimes I must be gone on the weekends. I enjoy the travel but occasionally I don’t arrive back to the Tri-Cities until the middle of the week. When I pick my car up at the airport I drive to the closest location where I know the Daily News is distributed. If they don’t have a weekend copy then I continue on my route until I find one.
I have not missed a column edition yet. But, lately it is becoming more difficult to get a copy as the paper as it is becoming more popular and many people have been there before I arrived. I asked my teenage nephew to pick up a copy for me, but he is not the most dependable in tasks like this. Do you know of some location that keeps the Daily News for several weeks so I could always obtain a copy of your column.
I know that there are other readers that because of travel, weather or illness sometimes don’t obtain a weekend edition and would appreciate not missing any of your columns.
Thank you,
- Jillian in Kingsport, TN
Dear Jillian,
I really appreciate your loyalty in reading the column. The publisher of the Daily News is very interested in his readers. He places the paper on the Internet at
http://www.kingsportdailynews.com/
You can go to this site and read the paper (including my column) no matter where you are. If you have access to a computer and can sign on to the web then you have my current column. Many of my readers tell me that they keep all of the weekly columns. Some paste them in a loose leaf binder and others keep the whole papers.
These methods are not practical or convenient for all of my readers so I have compiled an archive of all of the columns starting with the first one published. You can read or print out any or all of the columns. I have also included a search feature. You can use a keyword to find something that you may remember in a past column or do research in a topic you want to know more about. As an example, if you want to find hundreds of great free games just type in “internet games” and you will be directed to column 19, Internet Games for the Children (and there are many also for adults). Or, if you want to know more about the MAC operating system, just type in “MAC” and you can read column 71.
To get to these archives just go my website at: www.indiecomputer.com
At the bottom of the home page you will see “Newspaper Columns”. Just click that and be directed to the columns. Then click “Search” to find information in the columns.
Thanks for your question, Jillian,
Bryan
