De-stress with the Simplicity Group in Rogersville March 10

Rogersville, TN - Do the demands on your time and resources cause stress in your life? Would you like to examine the prospect of living more simply?

Jackie Clark and Guerry McConnell will host a meeting on Monday, March 10 at the Community Cup in Rogersville, for folks who are interested in starting a Hawkins County Simplicity Group.

Simplicity Group members study together to discover avenues for a comfortable life style with less stress. The introductory course will be “Voluntary Simplicity”, and the first session covers the meaning of simplicity and the misconceptions. The purpose of this discussion course is continued in the other sessions to explore the material and psychological distractions that prevent us from caring for the earth- and therefore ourselves, and to consider how life might be enriched through the practice of simplicity.

Located at 114 East Main Street in historic downtown Rogersville, originally the Powel Hotel ca1850s, the Community Cup opened its doors in the fall of 2007. Jackie Clark says her goal was to have her coffee shop “become a hub of cultural activity by creating an open, loving and diverse environment that mutually supports free, respectful expression and makes everyone feel welcome.”...Oh Yeah! and she sells really great coffee, nutritional snacks, pre-loved books and cool artwork. The Community Cup is where you can enjoy great local art, acoustic music and songwriters nights, or just a comfortable space to visit. A photography club meets here on the third Monday of each month; and Jackie gives Yoga instructions Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6:30PM for grateful clients. It is also a great place to have a birthday party, book signing, or other small events.

Guerry McConnell has been a longtime advocate for historic preservation and a healthy environment, she believes “The Community Cup a great place to meet for a course on simplicity.” She was introduced to the concept of a simplicity group through friends in Kingsport who have been meeting for 4 years bringing a new outlook on life to its members. The size of the group is limited to 8-10 people. “After the first course, we will decide whether to sign up for another course discussion, simply meet regularly for our own planned programs, or disband.”

The course on Voluntary Simplicity has 8 sessions which will meet at the Community Cup starting the week of March 31. The day of the week will be determined by the group and the final session will be held by the week of May 19. Membership in the Simplicity Group is free, the workbook for the first course is $18.00.

Join us on Monday, March 10, 7:00PM at 114 East Main Street, Rogersville. There will be light refreshments provided. For more information, call Jackie Clark at 423-272-7656 or Guerry McConnell at 423-272-8549.
