Getting Saved
Mountain people take their religion seriously. Well, most of them. In one of the remote areas of the mountains of Virginia there was a revival going full force.

Two young boys and their girlfriends went riding around. They came upon the church unexpectedly. The sounds from within attracted their attention.

After sitting outside and listening for awhile, they ventured inside to see what was happening. The preacher was putting the finishing touches on his message of fire and brimstone. He then began a passionate plea for converts.

One of the boys looked over at the other and said, "You need to go up there and get saved." The other boy said, "Why would I want to do that?" His friend answered, "Because you are a very bad boy."
The girls joined in the persuading. In the spirit of levity, he said, "Okay." Down the aisle he went with his friends smirking.

Getting down to pray, all the church gathered around, praying and laying hands on him. He had forgotten he had a boil on his back. Someone touched the boil, and he let out a full-throated scream. They thought he had struck the fire. They shouted the house down.

Joel's Musings
Serve One Another
To paraphrase a poem: a man was walking along a path one dark night carrying a lantern. He came upon a man whose light had gone out. He stopped and lit his light. Later a storm came up and blew out his light.

After awhile he saw a light coming toward him.
It was the man whose lantern he had lit.
If we serve one another everyone will receive what they need.
