Overmountain Men
brings home honors home
from State Conference

Overmountain Men Chapter members attended the 2008 Annual Meeting of the Virginia Society Sons of the American Revolution, held in Richmond, February 15-16, 2008. Representing the chapter at the meeting were Bobby D. McConnell, President, Jimmy Guinn, 1 st Vice President and Newsletter Editor, Wayne McClelland, Treasurer and Past President, and James Stallard, Registrar and Color Guard Commander.
The Virginia Society held their Awards Ceremony at the Capitol Building in Richmond. Awards were presented to Sons of the American Revolution chapters of the Virginia Society. Overmountain Men Chapter received an award for 2007 Congress Support, a certificate for Flag Appreciation and a certificate of appreciation from the Virginia Society Children of the American Revolution. Overmountain Men Chapter SAR and Carter’s Fort Chapter DAR sponsor the local C.A.R. Society, Virginia Frontier Society. For the second year in a row, Overmountain Men Chapter received the Jennings H. Flathers award for Best Chapter Newsletter in the Virginia Society. Member Jimmy L. Guinn, who is also the Virginia State newsletter editor, received a Presidential Award from Virginia Society President Joseph W. Dooley. Also for the second year in a row, Overmountain Men Chapter received the award for Best Medium Chapter in the Virginia Society. President Bobby D.
